Microsoft's introduction of Windows Vista for consumers this year is expected to help drive the PC-TV tuner market, a research firm said Monday.
Among the Microsoft initiatives positioning the OS for TV programming is the software maker's push to get PC-TV tuner vendors to centralize their drivers through the Windows Update program, according to the report from market analyst firm In-Stat.
"The most common PC-TV tuner will enable digital terrestrial television reception and be integrated with the PC as part of a Microsoft Vista bundle," In-Stat analyst Chris Kissel said in a statement.

It's a pitty those same Analysts haven't seen the buzz on the net... From what I've seen, many users are experiencing all kinds of problems with their TV Tuner cards and Vista.
The Hauppauge forums are full of users, screaming for Hauppauge to aknowledge that their Vista drivers just don't work. They're experiencing lockups, failures entering and departing sleep modes, cards not being detected and other issues.
It's certainly slowed my search for a TV Tuner card (standard TV, hardware mpeg2, DVB-T and perhaps DVB-S)...
Just my 2c.
Later'ish
