  Microsoft launches Vista licence advisor
Time: 08:59 EST/13:59 GMT | News Source: TechWorld | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

Microsoft has launched new tools to help partners navigate two of the company's more complicated offerings: product licensing and the Windows Vista client OS.

The licensing tool, called Microsoft LicenseWise, builds upon a previously released tool for Microsoft customers, Product License Advisor. Product License Advisor helps customers configure an IT environment and generate a report online that would tell them what licences they would need and the cost, Mike Oldham, general manager for Microsoft's worldwide licensing and pricing, said at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Denver.

More information about LicenseWise can be found on Microsoft's partner website.

Yummy - so at least we will have a record of when older versions of the WGA bake Vista systems using newer versions of the WGA - when installing current versions of Microsoft software?!? Do we get to dog-slap the MS support techs with copies of the reports, or do we at least get a discount on our English to whatever the heck they speak natively language and some advanced warning as to what central asian dialect we'll have to brush up on... does it come with that at least?!?!? ....Digital Imaging Suite Signature Edition looks swell on a Vista Ultimate box in reduced, "you're a bloody thieving pirate" functionality mode...

Oh wait, you dumped that product two days after I bought it... sorry, my bad.

So what does it do? You run it and it advises you to buy more Vista licenses? bada-bing!

I'll be here all week, folks.

Oh...why don't you go listen to some porcupine tree and leave our resident shills alone :-)

No I haven't. I knew it was coming out, but didn't know it did come out. Off to Amazon!

#5: You should start picking up their back catalog. Stay away from Metanioa as it's just a collection of long jams for the hardcore PT collector only. Same goes for On The Sunday of Life, which is very early Steven Wilson-only material. Primitive compared to what he's/they're doing today.
