  O2 has Wigan-sized iPhone problem
Time: 12:04 EST/17:04 GMT | News Source: The Register | Posted By: Brian Kvalheim

Everyone wants a Wii or an Eee this Christmas. They're the hottest technology items in town, but there's none to be found for love nor money. If you want an iPhone, however, supplies remain plentiful. Reliable channel sources tell us that Apple's exclusive UK operator has activated just 26,500 iPhones since its launch two weeks ago, below the company's expectations. This doesn't reflect the true number sold - for reasons we elaborate on below - but the gross is unlikely to be significantly higher. It's far lower than first-weekend sales guesstimates of 100,000, a figure reprinted by tabloid and broadsheet alike. The UK market has around 25m households; 26,500 is around the capacity of Fulham's Craven Cottage, or Wigan's JJB Stadium.

Ha-ha-ha!!!

Under expectations?!? Blame Apple's and own arrogance.
Apple did one idiotic thing - delay between US and EU launches was too long. And Apple's arrogance is too high.

"Connection to a single provider" + "Price is too high" + "SIM Free Software" = "Predictable result".

There are no iPhones available officially in my country. But when they will available it will be hard to sell them. We gave alot cheap unlocked iPhones on black market and everyone who really want them always bought or close to buy unlocked one. Apple, you're idiots!

Just prices comparison based on german iPhone prices:
1. locked iPhone = $500-600
2. officially unlocked = $1700
3. same "jailbroken" iPhone on market = $640(8GB)-800(16GB)

Arrogance is a punishable act.
