IT pros fear spyware more than viruses | |

During 2007, spyware has been IT professionals' biggest security concern. The Computer Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) surveyed 1,070 businesses earlier this year. Some 55 percent of those polled reported spyware as their top concern; in particular, respondents said the volume of spyware they have to combat had increased in the previous 12 months. "Spyware was rarely mentioned as a concern just a few years ago," said John Venator, president and CEO at CompTIA, in a statement. CompTIA commissioned the survey, which was conducted by TNS, a marketing research group. |

You damn skippy!
I have not had to remove a Virus in over a year. However, I've had hundreds of spyware removal calls. What makes this situation worse, so-called protection software, such as SAV Enterprise, doesn't so shit against spyware most of the time. Even if it does detect it, it has no idea what to do with it. TL |

It looks like people have forgotten about the protection of their PCs at all... It seems the only reason for such kind of increases. What I can recommend is to use the following software to be protected:
1)Firewall: Comodo(www.personalfirewall.comodo.com) 2)Anti-Spyware: Anti-Keylogger(www.anti-keyloggers.com) as permanent protection and Ad- Aware(www.lavasoftusa.com/) for scanning 3)Anti-Virus: NOD32(www.eset.com) This post was edited by TrevorK on Monday, December 03, 2007 at 12:46. |

Check. Check. Doesn't help much, except for NOD32, but NOD32 doesn't have a finger in the coporate market when compared to Symantec, which is the worst software I know of for stopping/removing spyware. IMHO. TL This post was edited by TechLarry on Monday, December 03, 2007 at 20:31. |

I have never discovered any spyware that SAV didn't/couldn't remove. Albeit my experience is only based on a network of 200+ users. Cheers |
