Windows XP SP3: Hands-On Preview | |

Microsoft confirmed today that the final version of Windows XP Service Pack 3 has been released to PC manufacturers right on schedule. The update will be available to end users to download next Tuesday, April 29, and pushed to Windows Update in June. A post on Microsoft's TechNet developer site confirmed the release.

Interesting. Won't it be the 1st time MS has released a common service pack for all XP editions? Especially Professional and MCE 2005?

| Home Edition and Professional have always shared the same service pack. Not sure about MCE. |

Looks like Technet/MSDN will get screwed again. From a post on the the ZDNet story:
"The latest word from Chris Keroack [MSFT] Moderator Re: Windows XP Service Pack 3 Released to Manufacturing "MSDN/Technet - Not yet. This will be available within the next month." |

| All editions have always shared the same service pack. MCE 2005 was released after XP SP2 (2004) so this is the first time that particular edition is getting an SP at all. |

| I concur with Skyfrog and PatriotB6007. Think about it tuxplorer, has there been multiple service pack 1 or 2 for XP in the past? Nope, just the one service pack for all the editions of XP that were out at the time. |

#7: I would say yes; Tablet is a superset sitting on top of XP Pro. So far all the updates released for XP Pro applied to the Tablet too.
Said that I also reiterate that this is just my opinion. |
