iTunes 8 takes down Vista with 'blue screen of death'
Time: 14:30 EST/19:30 GMT | News Source: ComputerWorld | Posted By: Kenneth van Surksum

Apple Inc.'s latest version of iTunes crashes Windows Vista when an iPod or iPhone is connected to the PC, scores of users have reported on Apple's support forum.

As soon as an iPod or iPhone is plugged into the PC, Vista crashes and shows the "blue screen of death" (BSOD), the critical error screen on a blue background that requires a reboot to recover, users said. The errors began showing up immediately after updating iTunes to Version 8.0, which Apple released Tuesday as part of its iPod refresh.

Is this really just coincidence? Apple's software causing BSOD on Vista? After all those Mac vs PC guy ads, I'm almost thinking it's done on purpose :)))) Yeah I know.. conspiracy theory... but still...:)

No conspiracy - apple write crap software for windows. Kind of pathetic that they can't get their own act together when attacking another company for their supposed problems.

I don't get it. There is a common misconception that Apple is a software company. This is a myth.

Apple is an electronics manufacturer. They are much more akin to Sony than to MS. Apple writes software to sell hardware. Period.

I would venture to guess that Apple makes minuscule profits from software. Basically Apple wants to sell you a device. It's MS that wants to sell you software.

It surprises me when Apple writes any worth while software.

If you doubt - ask a market analyst.

"Works on my PC"...

"Windows programmers" not better than "Apple programmers", sometimes even worse. But both kinds better than "Linux programmers". But worst kind is "HP/Creative/Logitech/Genius/<any other> hardware programmers which trying to pretend they can write software".
