The Xbox 360 is still trying to cement itself as one of the leaders in the current generation of gaming and already there's talk about its follow-up, the Xbox 720.

No they don't need blu-ray. After the end of the format wars blu-ray has gone pretty much nowhere. Prices are still too high. And how many people use a console to watch a movie? I never have in my life nor do I plan on it. It's just more wear and tear on the unit.
All I want is a console that is a console. Keep the costs low but not adding in stuff that doesn't need to be there. They can make a blu-ray add on though. |

| #1: Funny you should mention it, but I know several people who bought a PS3 to play BDs. When I was exchanging my Samsung BD unit for a Sony last week, the 60-yr-old gent in line before me at the service counter told me he bought a PS3 for the BD player only. If MS wants to keep up with Sony, they will have to include a BD player. |

I agree with Latch. Blu-Ray playback is highly important since PS3 has had it all along. Netflix only charges $1 more per month if you take BD's. So, you don't need to pay the 5 to 10 buck premium to buy Blu-Ray movies. They can now be rented on the cheap. BD is on the cusp of growth in spite of the deepening recession. I plan to buy a player this week now that they are $169 at Best Buy (with $100 off Disney BD's). I want my DVD's, or the local library who rent them for $1, to line double and upscale for a better picture on my 120-Hz 1080p TV than my old progressive scan DVD player provides.
Sometimes MS gets a bug up their arse and acts like stubborn kids. I hope this isn't one of those times. Blu-Ray in Xbox? Hell yes. By the way, the $100 off "coupons" in the Blu-Ray player box from Best Buy was ten $10 off any two at-a-time older Disney movies in a group. That's only $5 off per flick. No Wal-E. Nice misleading ad Best Buy. I now have 14 days to use the player before I return it. You deserve getting it back Best Buy for nowhere clarifying what "$100" meant. | No, I don't want a blu-ray in my Xbox 360. I want my Xbox 360 gaming console to play games. Future consoles, I am hoping they go with digital downloads. |

| #5: Disc-based anything aren't going anywhere. People still prefer to have physical product. I think we're quite a ways away from a time where digital distribution is the only way to get product. |
