Dell also was asked what impact Microsoft's next-generation operating system, Windows 7, would have on Dell. So, what's the difference between a 'netbook' and 'origami'?

I was about to ask the same thing...

Few mentioned the Origami Project and the UMPC's which followed.
Touch interface, immediate zero boot access to media centric application.
Specialized finger touch interfaces that looked surprisingly "glass like" for media and often used applications.

I well imagine quite a few Microsoft engineers that look at netbooks and say: "All they did was go cheap; that's it, price only devices for people who already have computers, and under-utilized computers at that. <insulted> they have to be adding: Huh? where's the innovation, really? Sony, for example and a bevy of others, have always had tiny, under-powered notebook computers - none of which last very long in the market.

I suppose the counter is that "the cloud" is better now... really? I think not really - I think people often didn't do much on their computers and "netbooks" are either quite enough, or certainly 'enough' for how they use them... to not do a great deal.
