Paul Thurrott: Over the past year or so, I've written a lot about whether Windows 7 is a major or minor OS release. Microsoft, of course, has claimed that it is a major release, if only for the many user experience enhancements it's made. I've argued that it is, in many ways, a minor release, since the hardware and software compatibility models aren't changing and because Windows 7 is quite clearly Windows Vista 1.5 from a technical standpoint.

This is typical Paul Thurrott MO - bitch and moan about something and then he has an epiphany and he sees the MS light!

Would a book about a "minor release" sells as well as one about a "major release"?
Pecunia not olet.....

Paul's been way off on this one.... asserting that leading pundits were not being heard...
BS. As if ONE new OS does not reflect ALL of the feedback customers provide going back many releases....? It became ridiculous. He then asserted that in later post BETA builds that changes the same ruling elitists had called for were making it into Win7. I think he was bored, because I can't possibly believe that someone with the years of experience in covering Windows would be able to draw the conclusions that he was.
