Microsoft's Internet Explorer 8 Fails To Halt Firefox Gains | |

Despite the release of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 two weeks ago, Microsoft continues to lose browser market share to Mozilla's Firefox. According to the latest data from Net Applications, the global market share for all versions of Internet Explorer slipped from 67.44% in February to 66.82% in March. Firefox's global market share meanwhile rose from 21.77% to 22.05% during the same period. |

Well, FF really did not have any real competition until recently.
Things will get more interesting in the future now that Google, Apple and MS are all into browser wars.. |

Wow! Out two weeks and already a failure? Only nerds like those that visit this web site have even heard about IE8. Most won't even know that it is out until it appears as a download in Automatic Downloads.
Hey! Speaking of failures - sounds like Chrome fits that category - out six months and its popularity is that of a rounding error. Reminds me of a certain OS. Plonk! |

| #4: LOL. Wags like you were saying the same thing about Firefox a few years ago. Now it's >20%. Yes, IE8 will get a giant boost when MS ramrods it down everyone's throat via Windows Update, but that says more about how MS can leverage their monopoly than it does about IE8's quality. Not that IE8 is bad, just that the unwashed masses don't care. Tech-literate people have already installed it or passed on it in favour of browser X. |
