  Bing usage jumps 22 percent, now at 10 percent share

Bing, the “decision engine” launched by Microsoft earlier this year, has grabbed 10 percent of market share, with total searches jumping more than 22 percent from July to August, CNET reports. Statistics released by Nielsen this week also show that Google, with a 2.6 percent gain, maintained a strong lead for the month, holding nearly 65 percent market share. Yahoo saw its searches dip more than 4 percent. It holds 16 percent market share.

Well, it makes sense that their stats would go up.

A lot of people use IE as their browsers.

They get the latest IE8 via windows update which defaults to Bing as the search engine. They do a search using the search bar in their browser. Guess what, Bing's usage goes up.

#1: Should my comment be as constructive as yours? Hmm?? I do note that they're using the old marketing trick of using a larger number to describe a smaller number. A gain of less than 2% is hardly news, but when it's a WHOPPING 22% INCREASE!! then it must be a big deal, right?

#3: actually, a 2% increase in that amount of time is quite impressive. If Apple increased their total PC marketshare 2% in one month, the press would go absolutely crazy.
