  Ballmer Celebrates 30 Years at Microsoft

Thirty years ago to this very day, Steve Ballmer began his long tenure at Microsoft. Ballmer was the company's twenty-fourth employee, hired on as the first business manager at a yearly salary of $50,000. Throughout his time at the company, he has also served as the head of Operating Systems Development, Operations, and Sales and Support. Now, of course, he's CEO.

Be careful what you wish for. The man (or woman) to replace Balmer will almost certainly have little or no hands on expertise in tech. MS is moving in the direction of IBM and will be eventually run by suits.
