Microsoft has long maintained that Windows is its operating system of choice for tablets. But there's increasing evidence that Windows Phone 7, not Windows, will be the operating system that Microsoft ultimately turns to in order to compete against the iPad and Android tablets. |

In order to sync my business spreadsheets and other docs I should use Zune and the Cloud..... Yes sure....... And what about handwriting? Thanks God the source is ComputerWorls.... therefore highly unreliable. |

| Let customer's decide what level of performance to purchase in a Windows tablet. Two versions of Windows on tablets won't be a bad thing. Full blown Windows 7 can have the high end and Phone can have the lower priced market. I only hope they keep the phone feature in it for use with Bluetooth or a good old fashioned wired headset. |

While I would like to see MS resurrecting the "Smart Display" concept, updating it to actual technologies and use a modified version of Metro with it applying Metro to a real Tablet puzzles me.
For me the strongest point of a Tablet is the handwriting not "touch". |

Fritz, I think it's widely anticipated that a WP7 type UI will be launched during a tablet environment on top of the traditional windows OS. Kind of like the Media Center button on a WMC remote. You're still able to dump out to real windows but quickly launch/switch to a finger friendly UI for tablet goodness.
If they can pull that off, I know dozens of people who would jump on board. You could use it like a tablet while walking around but dock it and use it as a full computer. I, for one, am excited to see if they can pull off a solid experience along those lines. |
