| I've never used NOD32 but I can say that Security Essentials is pretty damn good at detecting and removing viruses and Trojans. And unlike NOD32 and other solutions it's free. |

| TL: Currently our company puts MS SE on small business PC's (up to ten per company). It's pretty effective. But, for consumers Panda Cloud is much better at stopping the latest wave of malware. I used to prefer Avira, but they lost their magic recently. |

| This was the second major Microsoft Security Essentials update on my Vista box, and I got burned again. The safest route is uninstall previous versions of Microsoft Security Essentials and start clean. My problem is the installer gets confused finding the correct epp.msi version - so a more frugal approach toward upgrades is to navigate to the backup of the original file from the previous installation. Navigating to the 'new' epp.msi placed in a temporary location during installation will only result in error messages complaining the file cannot be found. Get past the epp.msi conflict, and users can expect more unrecognized msi files - just navigate back to the original backup folder, or simply uninstall then reinstall with the latest version of Microsoft Security Essentials. |
