Apple Inc.: Apps to Dominate iPhone.

Oh Really? Recent studies show that Apple Inc. Maps are reaching out to way more users than its rival Google Inc. Maps app, even though the latter has released various updates for Android. Despite not having such a great start, statistics show that more than 35 million iPhone users have access to this application compared to a mere 6 million that use Google maps. Apple users are much less likely to encounter problems, so how to send a fax from iphone is not a problem, but a matter of minutes. It is interesting to see why this is so. It’s apparently not a question of quality but rather, because it is more comfortable.
A question of preference? Apparently not. Everyone uses maps. Whether at home planning your departure or at work, on the road, or on a bus; a map application doesn’t vary too much, be it Apple Inc. or Google Inc. It’s just a map isn’t it? It seems that Apple Maps’ recent success isn’t due to its recent updates or improvements upon its original release that took place last year. On the contrary, the initial technical problems it suffered when it was first launched apparently made users not too keen to use the app. However, studies reveal that its large number of users can be attributed to simple commodities. Those who have iPhones apparently are satisfied with using the phone's “native applications” and as a result reluctant to download other apps. Of course, this does not mean that a percentage, although significantly small, is not curious and therefore willing to seek alternatives, but it seems that the average user is happy to use a “good enough” product that is already pre-installed. Success by default then?
Pretty much. Apple maps success is largely to do with the fact that the app has been pre-installed in many different iPhone generations. Experts actually say that Google Inc Maps is by far a superior product yet it seems that this isn’t very relevant because nothing beats commodity. Furthermore, having resolved the app’s initial glitches with various updates, there seem to be few reasons for the average Apple Inc. iPhone user to go out of his or her way to seek another maps app.
So what has Apple done? With these results that largely favor the manufacturer, Apple Inc. has now decided to gradually implement native apps that will guarantee a number of users. A clear example of this is the Pandora Media Inc (NYSE:P)/Spotify vs. iTunes battle. What could Google Inc do to get back some of its lost market shares?
